I'm talking about this Wim Hof video that sparked curiousity on ice baths.

He's giving us the cold hard facts about exposure to plunges and the benefits therefrom.

We want to start strong with our first blog post, so you will find every bit of info you need to take a first step into the world of cold plunges. Starting from the real Nordic Santa up there.

What to expect

And here is my first experience at Body Recovery Zone, while Kryz was still setting up the wellness centre:

When I walked in, he suggested the Sauna to me first and foremost. That is, if I wanted to get the full deal in terms of health benefits.

Nearly 100 degrees of heat later, it was time to actually dip into cold water. A completely new experience to me, and I'm sure many of us are in the same boat.

If you had to buy stimulating drugs, AND relaxing drugs, and take them, to THEN buy some sort of drink or therapy to get rid of the side effects... because you know, you've got productive things to do... What are you actually doing??!

The subjective view

That's why it's important to promote activities such as ice baths. When you find out they exist, you can forego all the nonsense and side effects of stimulants and relaxants.

It's exactly what happened to me, my body was refusing to get into the cold water at the start (I think it was about 7 degrees), the nerves... but the anticipation got the better of me and I sat in.

Once you're in, you might wonder what the self-induced scare was all about.

But, depending on your tolerance to low temperatures, the actual challenge begins some minutes later.

Like Wim Hof, among many others, mentions, you must breathe. Or you're toast. Popsicle***

That will give you the time to enter into the best phase.

Absolute calm and relaxation.

Your eyes open and alert, a sense of wonder into all as you look around.

I won't give you any more description of this, people don't like spoilers you see, especially of good movies ;D

Be prepared though, because there is one final part to The Plunge, but that's all for now.
